The Modalities

The services we provide specialize in the following types of bodywork.

Swedish Massage:
The modality of choice for relaxation.  Long fluid strokes, kneading and compression of the muscles, joint mobilization, scalp, face, and foot massage all produce a level of deep relaxation.  Added are scented oils and lotion, candles and soothing music.

CORE Myofascial Therapy:
A deep tissue modality using a tackier substance on the skin, creating more friction in order to get deeper into the body's fascia.  A 45-degree angle is used along "Langer's Lines" of each body part producing a deep tissue massage.  Langer's Lines are structural patterns of the myofascial system and the line of direction used by surgeons when making incisions, producing less scar tissue and increasing healing time of the wound.  This technique decongests tissue, increases a fuller range of motion of the joints, and brings a lighter, loftier, looser feeling to the entire body.

Polarity:
All healing takes place when we are at a place of relaxation.  Polarity and energy balancing will bring you to this place.  I use contact points, hands-on and above-the-body techniques and rock quartz crystals to bring your body into a deep state of relaxation.  Choose a full session of polarity or have this modality combined with massage.

Reiki:
An ancient form of energy work using a "hands on healing" technique.  The therapist's hands are placed on or near the various energy centers or chakras of the client's body.  The energy is often felt as heat or subtle fluid movement of the body's connective tissue.

Herbal Facials:
Chamomile tea steam, olive oil face massage, honey nutmeg masque, cucumber/apple cider vinegar astringent, and yarrow moisturizer.  Add a scalp, neck, arm and foot massage.  Treat yourself to this!

Deep Tissue:
The goal of deep tissue is to access the body's deeper fascia, or connective tissue, thus increasing the joint's range of motion, decreasing chronic pain, and increasing blood flow to the area.  This new blood flow brings fresh nutrients to the area, enabling repair of injured muscular tissue.  Deep tissue massage realigns muscle fibers, creates viscosity of the tissue, and allows gummed up areas to become smooth.

Craniosacral Technique:
